  • Extension monitor mount for Triple Monitor Sim Rig setup with Portable Displays. Setup displayed is utilizing an Ultrawide Samsung G9 49" and two Portable Arzopa 15.6" 144Hz Monitors (Mismatched monitors).

I wanted to extend my 49" Samsung G9 with two more displays mounted in portrait mode as I have limited space. Either way I needed a portable monitor for work to extend my work laptop when traveling.

The closest monitor size to the G9 height is 15.6" 10:9 display. The ones I used are Arzopa 15.6" 144HZ displays. Measured they are close to 16" screen size, little bigger than G9's height. They are 1440p so perfect match resolution-wise. To match the exact display size I had to set custom resolution for them - 864x1440. Standard 16:9 resolution is 2560x1440, both monitors give me total additional 1728 vertical pixels at 1440p. This makes 832px less than triple 27" setup - not bad. These particular displays are very thin, light and have extremely small bezel. This allows for very minimal overlap and almost bezel free install.

The mount itself features very easy removal of monitor - this allows me to use them when traveling without much complication. Mount itself is extremely stable, adds very little width to the whole setup (monitor edge is 6cm off from G9, total width of stand per side is +11cm). Very satisfied with the outcome, can use both displays as additional space for work virtually giving me 5 separate displays. Immersion is also on par - this is as close I can get to triple setup with my limited space keeping the G9 in use.

Also the mount is highly adjustable to provide wide possibilities for propel adjustment of display angle.

STLs for 3D print are available here, everything else is standard 4040/3030 profiles and mounting hardware. Instructions are in the attached YouTube video, all parts needed are also listed here. Brackets fit the Arzopa 15.6" Portable Display but can be modified easily for other monitors.

  • Parts needed:

    1. The 3D printed files attached here

    2. Alu Profiles for the mount arm:

2.1 Alu profile 4040, 42cm, 2x - for the arm itself (measure according to your rig setup)

2.2 Alu Profile 4040, 10cm, 2x - for the angled extension (10cm was enough to give me all adjustability needed)

    3. Adjustable 4040 series hinge for the extension arms

    4. Alu profiles for monitor mount - 3030, 365mm, 2x (exact same length ad monitor)

    5. Right Angle Brackets - 4040 series, 6x - on one side for all 6 the T-slot guides are sanded down to provide adjustability and perpendicular mounting to profiles

    6. Alu Profile End Plates - 8040, 2x - lower support for the extension arms

    7. M8 and M6 Mounting hardware - standard T-slot inserts and screws

7.1 M8x16 for all 4040 mounts, also for side bracket

7.2. M6x16 countersunk for top caps with Alu washer

    7.3 M8x12 for 3030 profiles (16 is too long for 3030 slot)

    7.4 T-nuts - M8 and M6 4040 (compatible with 3030 as well)

    8. Alu Auto Tuning Washers - if you want some flare for the end caps/brackets

    9. Covers for the RA brackets  - for better appearance

    Print Settings:

Everything was printed at 0.2, 60% infill, 5 walls and 5 layers bottom/top for additional strength.

    Further Considerations:

End Cap files provided are two versions - for M6 and M8 mounting hardware. Side bracket uses M8x16. Bottom cap can be used as top cap as well for better stability. If you plan on using the portable monitors separately - use the top cap as it is much easier to remove.
